After a year of thoughtful planning and renovation, the brand-new campus of Sardinia International School is nearing completion in Geovillage, near Olbia.
We are excited to welcome the families of prospective pupils, as well as guests, to our first Open Day.
Starting at 10am, adults will partake in tours of three parts of the campus, whilst children will be involved in a series of stimulating learning activities in our classrooms. The visit will finish at 11.15am with a light lunch for all and an opportunity to speak with school staff and others in the school community.
If you are interested in attending, please email Laura Wadsworth, Admissions Manager (laura.wadsworth@sischool.com).
The buildings — formerly part of a hotel and sports complex — have been reimagined for learning: soft lighting, eco-conscious materials, sound-absorbing surfaces and flexible classrooms make the space both calm and inspiring.
The project has been a collaboration between international architects, local builders and educational specialists from Italy and the UK. Two classrooms feature movable walls; the teacher desks are clover-shaped to invite collaborative work; an all-glass classroom will certainly prove a favourite working space for both staff and pupils.
We have been thoughtful as a design team, shaping the school environment with very high quality materials. More important than material choice, however, is that all our decisions have been centred on creating spaces to enhance learning: diffused illumination, sound-absorption, sight lines, collaborative spaces.
— Tony Chan, Headmaster
The major part of the campus is in the final phase of fit-out and will be completed within the coming week. A complete renovation of the school’s sports facilities has already begun, replacing the existing clay tennis courts with professional-grade surfaces, to provide possibilities for multiple sports from football and tennis, to basketball and athletics, and even roller hockey.
