On Saturday 21 June, over 150 people attended the first Open Day at Sardinia International School. In the bright morning sunshine, there was plenty of excited chatter over tasty refreshments served in the school’s courtyard.
Families were able to look carefully at all the details of the school’s classrooms and common areas, to understand the school’s emphasis on nutritious meals cooked in the school’s own expansive kitchen, and to learn more about the school’s ambition and unique approach to blending paritaria education with international elements.
The School was presented in excellent condition, with visitors impressed by the breadth of the school’s facilities: within the natural surroundings of Geovillage, the School has constructed a small theatre, a dance studio, and two news sports fields built using latest generational materials. Also notable was the purposeful and stylish classroom design, by Luca Rocca Architettura, and the high-quality of the furniture in all the learning spaces.
Children were offered a taster lesson, engaging in an English language activity tasking them to construct a model of the school. The lesson was led by two of the school’s specialist English language teachers, Miss Lauren Brinsdon and Mr Jan Spalek. There were very imaginative responses from the children and the compatible, fluid communication between children in English and Italian provided a positive example of what will be an everyday experience at the School in September.
Head Luigi Antolini, commented ‘It was a very important moment to share with the children and their parents not only the learning environments, but also, and above all, the school’s educational approach.’
These thoughts were echoed by the School’s other Head, Tony Chan, who said, ‘It is exciting to see this school, which began as a concept, as a project, now grow to become a reality for the community.’
Enrolment for September 2025 continues to be open, with further interest generated from the Open Day, and from last week’s announcement of the school’s initiative with Welfare Olbia.
There will be an official inauguration party in September, to celebrate formally the opening of the school. All pupils and families of the school will be invited, as well as the large cohort of supporters from Olbia, Gallura and international communities, who have been early and enthusiastic advocates for the School.
