Curriculum

British and Italian Learning in Harmony

Primary School Paritaria

A five-year course that is paritaria to the Italian national curriculum

With majority instruction in the English Language and incorporating elements that extend learning towards standards typical of international schools. Pupils are prepared for INVALSI tests at both Seconda and Quinta Elementare.

Within this framework, we have a multilingual teaching staff, including Italian teachers, English-speaking teachers and native English-speaking teachers, who enrich the learning experience through:

  • - daily activities in English;
  • - international teaching methodologies;
  • - the development of critical thinking;
  • - cultural openness to the wider world.
  •

Our goal is to combine the strengths of the Italian school curriculum with a global outlook, preparing students for an international future.

Middle School

International Curriculum with pathway towards Licenza Media

Sardinia International School has developed its own curriculum for Years 7, 8 and 9, centred on elements from the National Curriculum of England and Wales, as well as curricula from the United States; whilst providing an option and teaching support for students to prepare, in parallel, for the Italian Esame di Terza Media in Year 9.

For Italian students and for those who plan to reside in Italy long-term, the school offers:

  • - Italian mother-tongue lessons;
  • - integrated preparation for the Esame di Terza Media, taken at partner schools in the local area;
  • - specialist lessons in Year 3, scheduled before or after regular school hours.
  •

This approach allows students to remain fully aligned with the Italian school system while simultaneously acquiring the linguistic and academic skills typical of international programmes.

Secondary School 2027/2028

COMING SOON: IGCSE and IB Diploma

In Years 10 and 11, students will prepare for British IGCSE examinations, and ultimately, select from a range of subject options to complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13.

MIUR, the Italian Ministry of Education, presently recognises the IB Diploma as an equivalent to the Italian Maturità. As such, the IB Diploma allows students to access not only universities worldwide, but also Italian universities.

Through the entire school, native Italian students are provided with rigorous curriculum lessons in Italian, covering both language and literature. Students who are not mother-tongue Italian are placed in teaching sets that seek to accelerate Italian Language Learning, to allow students to develop proficiency in Italian.
